If you choose to maintain your new hydroseed, there are some instructions provided below for you to follow.
- Keep hydroseed moist by watering approximately 2-3 times a day depending on the weather. In the heat of the summer, more watering may be required. Do not over saturate with water. If you see puddles of water or erosion, then you have over-watered.
- Keep foot traffic off new hydroseed until lawn is rooted in.
- For your first mowing, which is approximately 3-4 weeks after the initial hydroseeding and the grass is about 3″ tall, makes sure the mower blade is sharp and remove the top 1/3″ of the grass blade. At this time, you may apply a broadleaf spray and fertilize with a good seed and tart-up fertilizer.
- After the third mowing, apply weed killer for weeds other than broadleaf weeds. Fertilize again.
- After the fourth mowing, with proper care, your lawn should be off to a good start. Maintain your new hydroseeded lawn properly by fertilizing approximately every 3 months.
There will be small areas of hydroseed that won’t germinate. These areas will need to be overseeded for the lawn to fill in completely.
We can not guarantee any hydroseed will stay in place in the event of severe weather or from a malfunctioning sprinkler system.
Hydroseed can not be guaranteed during certain times of year.
